I experienced a wow moment when I heard Tony Robbins say:  ‘…Trade expectation for appreciation…’

I sometimes get in a head space where I feel so fed up of things going on that I dwell on it in a negative way (Yes, even as a Life Coach!) When I find that I am dwelling negatively on my expectations of others, I have found this following exercise especially helpful:

For each expectation I have, I change it to an appreciation. It’s not easy the first time around, but you will eventually train your brain to move from expectation to gratitude.

What expectation do you automatically have on a daily basis, and what happens if you swap it for the more positive word: appreciation? Notice what happens when you do this; Your body becomes softer, your heart becomes open, and your energy will be receptive instead of resistant and hostile.

What do you have right now (this minute) that you are grateful for?  Your health, your children, your job, or your partner? Acknowledge it (damnit!) and sit—filling your whole body with the appreciation that you are blessed with everything you have.

How do you feel now that you’ve done this exercise? Feel free to drop me a line and let me know!! (I love hearing about your sparkling moments!)
